Professor Paul Chew is an Academic staff in the Department of Ophthalmology, Faculty of Medicine, National University of Singapore (NUS) since 1989.

He was appointed as the Head, Department of Ophthalmology, National University Hospital, NUHS in 2008 till 2010.

He is an editorial reviewer for numerous medical journals, Editor-in-Chief of the Asian Journal of Ophthalmology, and Editorial Board of Clinical and Experimental Ophthalmology as “Glaucoma” Section Editor and has published more than 100 publications.

Professor Paul Chew’s specialty is in glaucoma surgery and research. He is the Director, Glaucoma Division in the Department of Ophthalmology, National University Hospital, NUHS. He has been principal investigator in numerous glaucoma clinical trials. He invented and commercialised the now globally available Glaucoma MP3 Therapy Laser. He also heads the glaucoma drainage implant research, which provides enhanced safety and success in the
treatment of severe glaucoma disease. These new implants were designed in NUH and are currently in an advanced state of manufacture.
